Aircraft Technology General Information

 

Aircraft Technology Program is an associate degree program that carries out education and training activities with the aim of training qualified professionals who have a high level of knowledge and skills and have international competitiveness in order to meet the qualified technical staff need of the aviation industry. In the program, besides the basic sciences education, mainly theoretical and practical training is provided for both aircraft manufacturing and aircraft maintenance, repair, and overhaul.

 

Aircraft Technology Program was opened in 2010 at Ege University Ege Vocational School. With the establishment of the Aviation Vocational School in 2015, education and training activities continued with a new structure. Compulsory English preparatory education started in 2018 in order to provide students with English language knowledge, which is one of the most important requirements of the aerospace sector. The Aircraft Technology Program is the first public higher education institution to receive the "Recognized School" certificate from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation in all categories A1, A2, A3, and A4 in 2019. Thanks to the Recognized School authorization, graduating students receive a Recognized School Certificate in addition to their diploma. Thanks to this certificate, exam exemptions and the advantage of the work experience period are gained in order to obtain the approved maintenance personnel license in the aircraft maintenance, repair, and overhaul sector. In addition, crediting approval was obtained in 2020 from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation for modules 1, 2, 3, 5, 6, 8, 9, and 10 (from all modules in category A) in category A and crediting approval was received in 2022 for modules in categories B1 and B3 for 1,2,3,5,6,8,9 and 10.

 

Students who graduate from the Aircraft Technology Program if are successful in the "Vertical Transfer Exam" by ÖSYM, continue to education at Electrical Engineering, Electrical-Electronics Engineering, Electronic Engineering Electronics, and Communication Engineering, Energy Systems Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Pilotage, Aircraft Electric-Electronics, Aircraft Fuselage - Engine, Airframe - Engine Maintenance, Aircraft Engineering, and Aeronautical Engineering.

 

After graduation, Aircraft Technology Program students can be employed as technical staff in private companies, especially TAI and TEI, which are manufacturing for the aerospace sector, or in companies that make aircraft maintenance repair and overhaul, especially Turkish Technic (THY), and in technical units of airline companies.

 

Support has been received from leading companies in the sector such as Boeing and TAI for the establishment of the facility infrastructure of our school.
